Essential requirements to get your CDL license

The Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles (OMV) issues CDLs to applicants 18 and older for intrastate driving. Federal law requires you to be 21 to drive interstate or haul hazardous materials.

Yes. You must hold a valid Louisiana Class E driver's license. The Office of Motor Vehicles (OMV) requires your driving record to be clear of active suspensions before issuing a permit.
